About

Lawrence Sale

Lawrence Sale served in the Army as a musician for 31 years, starting out as a percussionist and rising to the rank of Major and Director of Music for the Scots Guards.  Despite moving from a playing instrumentalist to conductor and commander, Lawrence never lost his passion for drumming.  Throughout his service in the Army, Lawrence has played and conducted at some of the world's most prestigious venues with some incredibly talented musicians.  He conducted his own concert at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Edinburgh Tattoo.  He formed the Army Big Band in 2006 and performed several concerts with Jools Holland. Prior to joining the army, Lawrence grew up in Hertfordshire playing drums for various ensembles and once performing on Grange Hill for the 1985 Christmas edition - It's on YouTube!

Drumming4Wellness was partly inspired by a project that Lawrence found himself involved with in 2013 when working with DrumA, a group of children with Autism who wanted to perform a drum track live on TV for Children In Need.  Over a 6-month period, Lawrence coached and trained over 20 children to perform the piece in front of a live audience of millions.  One parent commented that they had never seen their son concentrate for so long.  Just for a moment at rehearsals, their minds were somewhere different.

Lawrence's wife also once commented "you look at your happiest when playing your drums" and she was right.

Make the time to feel the same - if only for a while.

About

The Studio

The studio is equipped with audio visual technology that supports both virtual and face to face training.  I use a Mapex Armoury drum kit with Zildjian and Sabian cymbals which is mic'd with an Audio Technica mic suite into a Presonus Studio Live mixing desk.  Lessons are delivered by means of 4 cameras (2 x drums, 1 x white board and webcam) and consolidated audio via virtual meeting software.

Here are a couple of examples that highlight the audio visual capabilities of the Drumming4Wellness studio.

For personal  lessons, all you will require is a pair of drum sticks and a small practice pad.  We will discuss this at the initial consultation.  Thereafter, you will need a means to access the virtual meeting software, an internet connection and an incentive to develop your skills and techniques.

For group workshops, all we need is a willing group of people, some chairs and some space.
